Welcome to Thailand, the Land of Smiles! Join me on an unforgettable 14-days journey through some of the most beautiful and culturally rich destinations this country has to offer. From the bustling streets of Bangkok to the pristine beaches of Phuket and the lush jungles of Chiang Mai, get ready for an adventure of a lifetime!
Day 1-3: Bangkok - The City of Angels
Day 1: Arrival in Bangkok
Upon arrival in Bangkok, check into your hotel. In the evening, you can join Bangkok by Night: Temples, Markets, and Food Tuk-Tuk Tour for a relaxing and introductory experience of Bangkok. Alternatively, if you arrive early in the morning, consider this City Highlights Temple and Market Walking Tour where you get to visit the iconic Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun, three of Bangkok's most famous landmarks, as well as sample some local cuisine and stroll through the local markets. After the tour, explore Khao San Road, known for its bustling markets, street food stalls, and lively bars.
Day 2: Exploring Bangkok by Bike
On my second day, I joined a Bike Tour and had a fantastic time exploring bustling Chinatown and cycling along the Chao Phraya River. If you prefer not to join a bike tour, you can always explore on foot. There are plenty of interesting things to see and do, ensuring you'll never feel bored.
Day 3: Discovering Hidden Gems
If you want to escape the city, why not take a boat trip along the canals of Thonburi, visit the Jim Thompson House and the Museum of Siam, and enjoy a shopping spree at the Chatuchak Weekend Market? Alternatively, you can explore the Damnoen Saduak Market and Maeklong Railway Market for a unique shopping experience.
Day 4-6: Phuket - The Pearl of the Andaman
Day 4: Welcome to Phuket
Fly or take a bus to Phuket and check into your hotel. Spend the day relaxing on the stunning Patong Beach and soaking up the sun. In the evening, head to Promthep Cape and witness an excusite sunset. It's a thousand times better in person than in the picture. It may be a bit crowded, but it's totally worth it.
Day 5: Immerse in Phuket's Cultural Experience.
Embark on a cultural day trip in Phuket with visits to the iconic Wat Chalong and the majestic Big Buddha. Immerse yourself in the spiritual and architectural wonders of these landmarks. Then, indulge in a delectable food tour, sampling authentic Thai cuisine at local eateries and markets. I joined Southern Flavors Phuket Food Tour with 15+ Tastings
and trust me, it's absolutely worth it. You won't easily discover all those places on your own, and most of them were bustling with locals. Despite being affordable, the food was incredibly delicious. Alternatively, indulge in a rum sampling experience at the Chalong Bay Rum Distillery. You can also choose to participate in cocktail-making workshop there.
For those who aren't keen on sightseeing like myself and prefer immersive experiences, I highly recommend the food tour and a visit to the rum distillery. If you're pressed for time, consider skipping the sightseeing.
Day 6: Island Adventures
Explore the breathtaking Phi Phi, Maya Area, Khai & Bamboo Island on a day tour by yacht. Get a chance to snorkel in the crystal-clear waters and soak in the island vibes.
Day 7: Elephant Sanctuary Experience
Visit an elephant sanctuary in Phuket and learn about elephant conservation. Interact with these majestic creatures by joining this Elephant Save & Care Program Tour
Day 8-10: Krabi
Day 8: Hello, Krabi
You have various options for reaching Krabi, whether by ferry, minivan, or flying, then check into your hotel. Once settled, indulge in relaxation at the picturesque Ao Nang Beach, where you can immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring scenery and breathtaking vistas.
Day 9: Railay Beach Adventure
Set off on a journey to discover the breathtaking beauty of Railay Beach, renowned for its crystal-clear waters and towering limestone cliffs. Explore the iconic Phra Nang Cave Beach, where myth and nature intertwine, offering a glimpse into local legends and stunning coastal landscapes. Engage in thrilling activities like rock climbing, where you can conquer the rugged cliffs, or kayaking, allowing you to paddle through the serene waters and marvel at the coastal wonders from a unique perspective.
Day 10-15: Chiang Mai - The Rose of the North
Day 10: Welcome to Chiang Mai
Whether you opt for a bus, train, or flight, journey to Chiang Mai and settle into your hotel for a relaxing stay. If you arrive early, seize the opportunity to wander through the Old City and pay a visit to a temple. Chiang Mai boasts many temples, but Wat Phra Singh is the most famous, renowned as one of the city's most iconic landmarks.Unfortunately, it was closed during my visit probably due to New Year's preparations. However, I did get to explore several other temples.
Alternatively, you could opt to join a food tour led by a local expert, lol. I cannot stress enough how much I recommend food tours; every time I've joined one in Southeast Asia, I've ended up loving it so much that it's the first thing I think of when exploring a new place. It truly feels like the best way to immerse yourself in the local culture and get to know the area intimately.
Day 11: Cultural Immersion
During your second day, make your way to Doi Suthep Temple and savor the breathtaking panoramic vistas of the city. I joined this Guided Sunrise Tour that offered exploration of Doi Suthep, Wat Umong, and Pha Lat, along with the opportunity to observe a monk ceremony. Be prepared for extensive walking if you choose to join this tour. Afterward, treat yourself to a traditional Thai massage in the afternoon, and in the evening, venture out to explore the vibrant Night Bazaar.
Day 12: Day trip to Chiang Rai
Embark on a captivating day trip from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai, a city renowned for its cultural richness and stunning architecture. Explore the iconic White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) and the serene Blue Temple (Wat Rong Suea Ten). Don't miss a relaxing stop at the Mae Kachan Hot Spring and a visit to the intriguing Baan Dam Museum. Experience the rich culture and natural beauty of Northern Thailand on this unforgettable adventure. You can partake in this Comprehensive Tour that includes everything mentioned, allowing you to relax without worrying about a thing.
Day 14: Cooking Class and Departure
Join a cooking class and learn to cook traditional Thai dishes if you have a late flight. Otherwise, pack your belongings and take some rest before departing Chiang Mai with a heart full of memories and a suitcase full of spices.
